How to Get to Dubrovnik
- By Air: A large number of airlines offer regular flights to and from Dubrovnik from major European cities. The website of the Dubrovnik Airport, http://www.airport-dubrovnik.hr/m/linkovi_e.htm contains links to all of the major airlines that fly into the city.
- By Land: Dubrovnik cannot be reached by rail, but relatively frequent and reliable (if slow) bus service links Dubrovnik with Split, Zagreb and other cities in Croatia. A schedule may be found at http://www.akz.hr/, though the site frequently fails to work.
- By Sea: Dubrovnik owes its current splendor to the sea. If your travel schedule relatively open, you might wish to consider arriving by ship from ports on Croatia's northern Adriatic shore and from Italy. You can find more information at the Jadrolinja site: www.jadrolinija.hr. This site, too, frequently does not function.
Where to Stay
Dubrovnik provides a number of hotel opportunitites. Because the conference occurs during the low season, costs are relatively low (by the standards of the region). Students and presenters for the Divided Societies Course have had satisfactory experiences with the Hotel Zagreb, the Hotel Lero, the Youth Hostel Dubrovnik and in private accomodations arranged by travel agencies. Full information about lodging opportunities may be found at the IUC website: http://www.iuc.hr/u_accommodation.html
Where to Eat
Most lodging includes breakfast. Lunches and dinners depend on appetite, but acceptable restaurant meals average EUR10-15.
